This is such devastating news. I can’t even begin to fathom what his family and friends are going through. Mental health is such an important issue that people just so easily brush-off or joke about because of the discomfort, or perhaps, the disconnect with the issue itself. Anthony Bourdain was and will continue to be a huge inspiration to me. He’s the one that convinced myself and many others around me to go explore and travel the world. He made the world and it’s many nuances accessible to regular people like us and made it a little less scary and so much more exciting. His words and thoughts drove me to want to see more and meet different types of people. Whenever I travel to places that he’s documented, I still look at the places he’s seen or locations he has eaten at so that I can experience those things myself. I don’t think as a creative, I would be anything near what I am today had I not sat down and watched his adventures on television, and watching them over and over again to the point where I already knew what he was going to say because I had seen any particular episode a number of times repeatedly. He inspired me. I started doing video stuff and really started being more outspoken about life and not just cars. I think it’s incredibly important to not only experience life, but to also talk about it openly and candidly because you honestly just never know what people are going through at any point in time. This is devastating news to the entire world and another example of how anyone can seemingly have it all, but still be at a battle with their minds, and with themselves. Material belongings and success just don’t mean anything if you aren’t at peace with yourself. Please always take care of yourselves, feed your minds, meet goals, acquire things, but never, ever forget to nurture your soul. Take care of your mind. Everybody needs help sometimes. Don’t be afraid to say something or speak up if you are going through difficulties that may otherwise seem unconquerable. Anthony Bourdain was an incredible man who brought so much to so many. I will miss his wisdom and hearing of his adventures dearly...(1/2)
